Christmas beetles emerge across eastern Australia in early summer and peak right around Christmas, which is how they earned the name. Their metallic colours run from soft golds and greens through vivid bronzes and pinks, giving them an almost festive sheen, and for many Australians they are a cherished childhood memory: clinging to flyscreens, buzzing clumsily around verandah lights, resting in the trees like tiny living ornaments. Inspired by that seasonal icon, this is a richly expressive multichromatic shading ink that shifts in response to paper, nib, and light. December 2025.
Try before you commit to a full bottle. Each sample is hand-decanted into a 4ml glass vial with a screw-top cap and a labelled colour name, so you can test the shading, sheen, and flow in your own pens on your own paper first.
This is a shimmer ink. Shake gently before each fill, and use it only in fountain pens that can be easily disassembled for cleaning. Dip pens and brushes are always a safe bet.
