Iridescent metal, in a blue held exactly between indigo and royal.
Jewel beetles (Buprestidae) are a marvel of the microcosmic world, renowned for iridescent metallic exoskeletons that shift across a spectrum of colour depending on the angle of light. Those colours work as both camouflage and warning, and they have fascinated entomologists, artists, and jewellers for centuries. This ink is a dark, ultra-saturated blue balanced perfectly between indigo and royal blue, finished with a striking copper-gold sheen that mirrors the beetle's shell. January 2025.
Try before you commit to a full bottle. Each sample is hand-decanted into a 4ml glass vial with a screw-top cap and a labelled colour name, so you can test the shading, sheen, and flow in your own pens on your own paper first.
This is a shimmer ink. Shake gently before each fill, and use it only in fountain pens that can be easily disassembled for cleaning. Dip pens and brushes are always a safe bet.
